Our 1700 sq. ft. hospital opened its doors on November 19th, 2004. Today, we provide a wide range of medical and surgical pet care services for both dogs and cats. These services include routine preventative health programs with annual examinations and vaccine reviews, dietary counseling with extensive selection of prescription diets specifically tailored to your pets needs available on site, medical diagnostics done either with our on-site lab or use of an off-site laboratory, microchip implantation and identification, routine surgical procedures for example spay and neuters as well as emergency surgery.
Our clinic also provides radiography as a diagnostic tool for both gastrointestinal and orthopedic ailments. Our clinic is outfitted with cages in varying sizes for both recuperating cats and dogs as well as runs for larger breed and an isolation area for our sickest friends. Our clinic is designed with easily sanitized materials and is routinely disinfected to help prevent the spread of infectious disease.
Our hospital, like all veterinary clinics in Ontario, is routinely inspected by The College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO). This ensures that our clinic meets specific regulated requirements set out by the CVO.
Licensing of your pet for the Town of Whitby can also be done at our facility.

Dr. Dan Baturensky grew up in rural Ontario where he spent most of his time working with cattle and other large animals. It is through the farm experience that he developed his desire to help care for animals. Dr. Baturensky started his university career at the University of Guelph in 1990 and upon graduation in 1998, began practicing mixed animal veterinary medicine just north of Hamilton. In 2000, he made Durham Region his new home. He currently resides in Brooklin with his wife and 5 boys.
Dr. Ruthanne Mortimer started her veterinary career with a Bachelor of Science at the University of Guelph. Her passion for medicine and the compassionate care of animals came together when she was accepted into the Ontario Veterinary College and graduated with her DVM in 2003. In 2017, she joined the team at Baldwin Animal Hospital and greatly treasures the jovial family atmosphere of Dr. Dan and this amazing crew. She currently lives in Brooklin and enjoys downtime digging in her garden, playing the fiddle, and exploring hiking trails with her four fantastic kids.
Anne-Marie has been with Baldwin Animal Hospital since its inception in November of 2004 and has worked with Dr. Dan since 2000. Her roles include reception, animal care, and assisting the medical management of the in-clinic patients. Anne-Marie functions as Dr. Dan’s right paw, trouble-shooter and longest employee. All in all, she is his “go-to girl” and our in-house canine breed resource. She resides in Oshawa with her puppies named Shylah and Yukon.
Melanie started at Baldwin Animal Hospital in 2019. She graduated from the Vet Tech program at Seneca College in 2018 and became a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) later that year. Lisa is a receptionist/veterinary assistant at both of our locations, South Whitby Veterinary Services and Baldwin Animal Hospital. She graduated from Seneca College in 2018 from the veterinary assistant program and has been working with Dr. Dan ever since. When not in the clinic, she is at home in Oshawa enjoying movies, reading or her favourite, snuggling with her dog and cats.
Ever since I was little I had wanted to help out animals wherever and whenever I could. I am happy to be working at Baldwin Animal Hospital as a receptionist/veterinary assistant and being able to help out other animal lovers with their fur babies. I have 3 dogs, two Cheweenie’s Ozzie and Harley and a new member of the family Zeus, he’s a teacup chihuahua. The best part of working at the clinic though is the staff family that I have been allowed to be a part of and the amazing clients that I have the pleasure of spending my days with.
Keira joined our team in 2019 with a love for animals and a passion for learning about them. She is one of the cheery voices you’ll hear when calling the clinic. She can be found hanging out with your furry friends to make their visit with us more enjoyable (cookie giving is one of her favourites).
She recently graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Biological Science and likes playing with her family dog, Loki, or snuggling with her adorable hedgehog, Acacia.
